A finance app
that's on your side.
Buckeroo is an AI financial coach for Australians. Plain answers about your money - no lectures, no upsells, no credit-card ads.
We're rolling people in slowly. You'll get a confirmation from onthedot.dev- that's us during the beta.
What I'm building.
Not a roadmap pitch. These are the four things in the app today - and one that's next.
A coach you can actually talk to
Sam is a chat-based financial coach that knows your real spending, your envelopes, and your goals. Ask “how am I tracking this month?” or “help me build a budget from my pay” - get a real answer, not a chart.
Envelope budgeting
Allocate your pay to envelopes - groceries, rent, savings, whatever matters. Spend from one, see exactly what's left in the others.
Open banking, no scraping
Connect your Australian bank via Basiq under the CDR. Read-only, bank-grade auth, no password sharing. Transactions sync automatically.
Net worth & monthly insights
A monthly story of your money: where it went, what got cheaper or more expensive, which subscriptions are creeping up, how your net worth is trending. Generated once a month - not a dashboard you have to interpret yourself.
How it works.
Three steps from invite to your first budget.
Connect a bank
Link your Australian bank via Basiq's CDR-licensed open-banking flow. Read-only access, no password sharing.
Set up envelopes
Allocate your pay across budget envelopes - or ask Sam to draft a plan from your last few months of spending.
Talk to Sam
Ask Sam anything about your money. Every change Sam suggests waits for your approval before it lands.
Every finance app I've used either lectures me or tries to sell me a credit card.
The free ones bury you in ads for products that pay them commissions. The paid ones treat budgeting like punishment - tracking every coffee like you're on probation.
Buckeroo is what I wish existed: a coach that knows your real numbers, talks like a person, and doesn't have a side hustle selling you stuff. Read-only access. No affiliate links. Your data isn't the product.
We're in closed beta with a small group of testers before going public. If that sounds like something you want, the waitlist is open.
Read-only access
We can see your transactions. We can't move your money.
CDR-licensed
Bank connections via Basiq, Australia's open-banking platform.
Made in Australia
Built for AUD, AU banks, AU tax brackets. Not retrofitted from US software.
Honest answers.
When are you launching publicly?
No firm date because rushing this is worse than waiting. You'll get an email when the public launch is real.
How do I get an invite?
Each batch is small on purpose - somewhere around 5 to 10 people - so we can actually read every piece of feedback and fix the thing it points at before opening the next batch.
Will it cost money?
Pricing isn't finalised, and won't be until launch. Closed-beta testers get early-bird pricing locked in when paid plans go live.
Is my data safe?
Your data is stored in Australian-region Supabase. We don't sell it, don't share it with advertisers, and don't use it to recommend financial products that pay us commissions. You can disconnect a bank or delete your account at any time.
What does the AI coach actually do?
Anything that changes your data - creating an envelope, moving money between budgets, assigning a transaction - is suggested, not done. You approve every change before it lands.
Australia only?
Other countries are on the table after public launch but not soon.
What if I already use YNAB / Pocketbook / Frollo?
Buckeroo is built for AU first and treats the AI coach as the main interface, not a chart-stuffed dashboard.
Why does the email come from onthedot.dev?
onthedot.dev) so we can ship without waiting on DNS for a brand-new sender reputation. It's us. Replies go to a real person. We'll switch to a
@buckeroo.com.au sender at public launch.Want in?
The waitlist is the only way in during closed beta. We'll email you when an invite is ready.
